Road rage attack on Lake Shore Drive

October 12, 4 p.m.

A 32-year-old male was apparently attacked while in his car near the corner of Lake Shore Drive and Belmont Avenue, according to reports. The non-offender told police that he was driving in traffic and the driver behind him kept blowing his horn. The non-offender said that he pulled to the side to let the driver pass. The offender pulled up behind the non-offender, got out of his vehicle, and began waving a baton in the air. The offender then punched the non-offender’s car with his fist and then struck the trunk with his baton. The offender told the non-offender to get out of his car and when the non-offender refused, the offender hit the non-offender in the face with his baton. The offender fled back to his car. No arrests.

38-year-old arrested on charges of selling crack on Grace

October 11, 9 p.m.

A 38-year-old male is in custody after being charged with selling and possessing crack near the corner of Grace Street and Pine Grove Avenue, according to reports. CPD drove past the alleged offender and witnessed suspicious behavior between the offender and another male. The officer got out of his vehicle and approached the offender, who dropped a white substance on the ground when the office walked towards him. The officer detained the offender and confirmed that the item was crack. The officer stated that he also found two and a half grams of marijuana in the offender’s shoe.

Three males rob a 27-year-old male on Wellington

October 9, 12:30 a.m.

Three males ages 16, 18, and 24 are in custody after attempting to rob a 27-year-old male near the corner of Wellington Avenue and Broadway, according to reports. The non-offender told police that he got off the bus and was walking home when he noticed the three offenders. They apparently threw a large pumpkin at the non-offender’s head and then grabbed the non-offender. The offenders began to go through the non-offenders pockets and tried to pry his cell phone out of his hand. The non-offender screamed help and the offenders fled. The non-offender called police and a flash message was sent out. The three offenders were found near the corner of Barry and Broadway and were taken into custody.

Male robbed in alley near Halsted

October 9, 4:15 a.m.

A 36-year-old male told police that he was robbed near the corner of Halsted Street and Newport Avenue, according to reports. The non-offender told police that he was walking with a man he met that evening and the offender pushed him against a wall in an alley way, went through his pockets, and fled. No arrests.

Business robbed on Clark 

October 9, 1 p.m.

A business near the corner of Clark Street and Barry Avenue was apparently robbed, according to reports. The business owners noticed that the front and back doors of the business were slightly open when they came into work. When they examined the building, they discovered that cash was missing from two cash registers and the safe. Police investigated and determined that the alarm system was shut off the night before. No arrests.

Woman robbed at the Center on Halsted

October 10, 2 p.m.

A 27-year-old female told police that her wallet was stolen from her purse at the Center on Halsted, according to reports. The non-offender was in the computer lab when she noticed her wallet was missing from her purse. She did not see or notice anyone take her wallet. No arrests.

47-year-old female robbed at gunpoint on Halsted

October 15, 11:30 p.m.

A male in his 30s is suspected of robbing a 47-year-old female at gunpoint near the corner of Halsted Street and Waveland Avenue, according to reports. The non-offender told police that she was approached by the offender while she was walking down the street. The offender came up to her, grabbed her, and then pointed a gun at her. He asked the non-offender if she wanted to buy drugs from her. When the non-offender said no, the offender grabbed her purse and fled. No arrests.

Male threatened with a broken bottle on Pine Grove

October 15, 11:30 p.m.

A 43-year-old female is in custody after apparently threatening a 35-year-old male with a broken bottle near the corner of Pine Grove Avenue and Grace Street, according to reports. The non-offender told police that the offender asked him how to get to Broadway. When the non-offender told her directions, she apparently began to scream threats to him while waving a broken bottle near his face. The non-offender quickly walked away and called police. Police found the offender in an alley way and placed her in custody.
